| About Me
Hi all. This is a basic outline of who I am.
My name is Gary, I was born and pretty much raised in the beautiful island
of Bermuda, though I did live in Australia when I was still in single digits!
I spent most of my life working in the tourism industry in Bermuda as an
entertainer in various capacities. I started as a tour-guide and
commentator, eventually moving on to perform both my original, and cover
tunes as a solo entertainer on the tour-boat and hotel circuits under the
"Calypso Handle" or stage name as "Lazy Boy". I also sang for some of the
most popular bands in Bermuda, most recently "The Kennel Boys" and
"Secret Salmon".
I am now living in Dublin, Ireland in northern County Dublin in the seaside
village of Portmarnock. I love it here! Ireland is a beautiful country and the
people here are deserving of their friendly reputation. Portmarnock has a
beautiful beach and I feel very much at home being close to the sea.
There is a very multi-cultural element to Dublin since the inception of the
EU, and there are people here from all the member EU countries as well as
many Asians which make it a diverse and exciting city.
It's quite a difference from the 20 square miles total area of Bermuda,
but there are many similarites such as the down-to-earthness and general
gongeniality of the people and their sociable nature which help me to feel
right at home nonetheless.
I have been happily married since February 24th, 2004 to my beautiful wife
Daniela, whom I have come to wholeheartedly appreciate as my best friend
and soul-mate. No we haven't had a fairy tale romance, we're both too
human for that, but we are very much in love and completely and
passionately devoted to our relationship which continues, with constant
effort on both our parts (probably more on hers!), to deepen, strengthen
and evolve.
Daniela works as a fund accountant for an international bank, I spend my
days working on this website, writing children's books which I hope to have
available on our website soon (Daniela is doing the artwork), and working
part time doing maintenance and management for a couple who own a canal
boat here, though they live in England.
I decided to start this blog as I enjoy writing, communicating with people,
researching and having something to do! I hope you will find it interesting,
informative and fun, and that you will be inspired to participate.
Here's to forging new friendship's, sharing new ideas, and generally just
being the best people we can be.
Cheers!
